Another week gone by...
As this week has ended, I look back at the tasks I wanted to accomplish, with the one main task-- of staying on task. LOL! I know it sounds crazy-- yet I don't think I'm the only one that has this issue. Yes, I am self-acclaimed ADD. I'll also admit to being OCD as well. We'll save that for another blog posting!
During the next week, you'll find a bit more blogging as I'm writing out my thoughts on frugality, bartering, grocery shopping; as well as recording some of the 'experiments' I'll be performing. ;O)
So, lets start with this first experiment-- grocery shopping only 1-2 times per month. This will not include a weekly trip for milk or fresh produce.
See, I have the so-called pleasure of being in town on a near daily basis, Monday thru Friday, as I bring the kids to school. So, if I have to stop, I can. I've been doing a fairly good job at not stopping just because and only stopping if I have to have milk, and then I will get any other must-haves, and they must be must-haves.
I know what I'm saying is something some of you may have done in the past or are doing currently. So, I have hit on something that could use a fresher idea or you have an idea that I may find encouraging, let me know!
The experiment--
For the rest of April, I will buy only what I must have, using up the staples in my pantry.
For May--on the first payday/grocery day (general a Friday or Saturday--I will be purchasing the staples that should last a month: TP, soaps, most anything non-perishable. Now, since my DH is a truck driver, this may get split up into 2 times in the month, in the case of that first payday being a low mileage payday.
I'll also include a trip to the meat market to get meat for the month. I love the trip to the meat market-- and the only way you can get meat fresher or better for you than that is to raise it yourself. NEVER purchase meat from a mass grocery with their lovely vacuum-packaging and all they inject the meats with so they 'look pretty' for you!
The real reason behind this experiment is that I need to get a better handle on our budget, and this is going to be one of the ways to do so...
Let me know your ideas & thoughts...
